Affiliation

So many people ask the question, “What kind of church is Perimeter Pointe?” The simple answer is this–a biblical, New Testament, Christian church. But we realize that when most people ask that question they want to know what denomination, if any, the church is affiliated with. At Perimeter Pointe, that question has multiple answers!

First, we are interdenominational. That means there are many different denominational backgrounds represented in all of our members and attenders. We don’t like putting fences up because someone may be Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Catholic, etc…

Even though we are interdenominational, that doesn’t mean we are non-denominational! While we come from all kinds of backgrounds, our church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. We partner with the national and local Baptist ministries in order to maximize our missions effort.

Within the Shelby Baptist Association, our church is able to be part of what God is doing right here in our community–like providing for thousands of people in need through the Ministry Center in Columbiana.

The next question is this–”Why don’t you have Baptist in your name?” We chose not to include the word “Baptist” in our name for several reasons. First, we realize that some people, particularly those who have been burned by church in the past, have a negative perception of that word. We don’t shy away from who we are, but we don’t want to put a roadblock up for those who have that issue. Secondly, since we have such a diverse church and our approach to church is unique (unlike any Baptist church we’ve seen!), we thought it was appropriate to leave it off so those checking us out could form an opinion of our church themselves–after they visit.

We hope we’ve answered the question “What kind of church is Perimeter Pointe?”!!! If not, please feel free to email us at info@4thepointe.com and we’ll be glad to provide more info!
